Amos died March 11, 1918, at the age of 78, of the kidney ailment Bright's Disease.
Amos’s daughter Martha Rebecca had married a man named Ingle Kattness and was living in Muncie, Indiana, at the time of her father’s death. She wrote to the War Department and requested funds from her father’s pension to help pay for his burial and gravestone. Amos Newton Fulkerson was laid to rest in the International Order of Oddfellows (IOOF) Cemetery in Dunkirk, Indiana.
