Henry Taylor married Alice Hauser Levering on February 24, 1878, in West Salem, Illinois. She was the daughter of Lewis Alexander Levering and Sophia Hauser. Sophia Hauser was the daughter of the Moravian minister, the Rev. Martin Hauser who founded West Salem, Illinois and also the Moravian church in Olney,Illinois. It is assumed that Henry and Alice were married in the Moravian Church.

Initially, Henry and Alice raised their large family in a big country house. They had nine children: Amy Taylor (1881-1936), Minnie Taylor (1882-1962), Glenn Taylor (1885-1938), Lewis Moody Taylor (1887-1989), Alice Floy Taylor (1889-1929), Frances Theresa Taylor (1892-1976), William Thomas Taylor (1894-1969), Rea E. Taylor (1896-), and Levering E. Taylor (1899-1973).

In 1901, the family moved "into town" in Olney and lived in another large house. It was in Olney that Henry and Alice Taylor founded the United Brethren Church on East Main Street.

Henry Taylor lived 79 years and died in St. Louis, Missouri and is buried in Haven Hill Cemetery inOlney, Illinois. His wife, Alice, lived almost 73 years. She also is buried in Haven Hill Cemetery.
